So far we've got the Sidekick classes placed in here on the test page (linked below).
What else does everyone think should be added? Anything that should not be?

Alrighty, so, Ill start with whats most similiar to the sidekicks, and thats the survivor classes. They're a similiar concept, being a simplified stat sheet for a non-main player character, but rather than filling out a party they're supposed to be expendable player characters for the DM to play out scenes to show off the monsters being scary.
Ive already begun working on the page for it, but I havent made too much progress. http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/survivors
One thing ive been testing out with it is the idea of implementing drop down sections of text. The reason being that you dont need to see the 4 statblocks all the time, you probably just want to see one at a time, or just the Survivor Talents (essentially survivor feats), so Ive been testing out using drop down menus to put the statblocks behind.
The code is actually fairly straightforward, but I dont get it 100% so far. I cant work out how to make the dropdown part of a sentence, rather than having a whole line to itself, if it even is possible
As for other things that should be in there, 'Alternative Player Unlocks' should be there. Items such as Epic Boons, Charms, Magical Boons, Chwinga Charms, Dark Gifts and the player options from Theros which I forgot the name of. Essentially all the non-item boosts to power and strength players can get over a campaign
Overall, theres actually a whole lot that can go in here, so we might just need to take the time to look over every book one by one to find if there are any player options that should go into the wiki, but that will take some time.
TLDR
- Survivor Classes (VRgtR)
- Epic Boons (DMG)
- Magical Boons (DMG)
- Charms (DMG)
- Chwinga Charms (RotFM)
- Dark Gifts (VRgtR)
- Supernatural Gifts (MOoT)
Ah, and a bit of a more layout note on the testpage, I feel the misc section may be a bit too high up? I dont think it will be used as often as feats or items, so I think it would slot better between the Racial Feats section and the Homebrew Subclasses section
Thanks
i agree with ncat that the misc section should be placed below feats. the player options suggested make complete sense to be included in a misc section, though maybe it should be organized by core book (like the DMG), sourcebook/setting (like VGR and MOT), and adventure module (ID:RF).
another thing we should keep track of when making edits to the home page is the functionality of the icons at the top of the page which should jump down to the relevant section. at the moment, they stop being functional once you try jumping to classes and only get worse from there as a result of rearranging and adding to sections. it's obviously not a huge issue and it is something that changes with every edit to the home page, but i have spoken with people who aren't as familiar with the site and that was a big issue as it meant that they had to scroll all the way through the spells, backgrounds, races, and classes to find what they were looking for rather than being able to click on a single button and be taken there.
anyways, yea. adding the lesser-known player options that are being discussed would be great. i'd also be interested in adding sub-options like eldritch invocations, battle master techniques, and other class/race specific pages to a misc section since it can be a bit difficult to find through the pages themselves. just a thought.
excellent work keeping up with the latest publications and releases! i'm always blown away by the speed by which y'all update this site <3
Ah yeah, 100% with that fixing the top of page icons, i kinda just stopped using them entirely when I started using this site often
Yeah, I dont know why I missed thinking of that, eldritch invocations and the like are at times referenced by other features (Eldritch adept feat) and often players want to access them directly, so putting those kinds of things in the misc section is a smart move
Thanks Cotton <3
That's my mistake, I always forget those have to be updated when new tables are added in the code. Test page is fixed and I'll move those out to the main page later this week unless someone objects.
I made another small update to the test page to try something out. If you look at the Artificer section, I changed it to 3 columns wide and added a 'Quick Links' section that has a link to the Infusions page (which I also moved from artificer-infusions to artificer:infusions.
To keep it from wrapping around, I had to changed the Unearthed Arcana (archived) to Unearthed Arcana (a). What do you all think of that? Like NCat said above, I think it makes sense to have those types of pages more easily accessible, used to annoy me that I had to go into the Battlemaster page to get to the Maneuvers list.
I added it to the rest of the classes on the test page that I remembered had special pages that would benefit from having a quick link. Did I miss any?
Dont think you did no, that should be all of them from what I remember
Unles you want to add the spell lists linked next to each of their classes too, but thats sorta redundent anyways with the spell lists already being on the front page
Cool, we'll go with that then. I did notice it ended up wrapping around Path of the Ancestral Guardian for Barbarians since the column ended up a little narrow (at least on my laptop), but that's not a huge deal.
Also, I found out that you don't have to type out the entire link to an internal page on here (remove the randomly placed spaces, wasn't sure how to get code to display without executing);
[ http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/spells Spells]
[ [[spells| Spells]]]
Little bit shorter, and it creates an internal site map. I'm working on changing the main page over to this.
